F134 Oil Filler Tube

    The oil filler tube has a vent near the top. In the service manual I can see it should point toward the glove box. Mine points toward the driver. This position does not allow the installation of the vent hose that goes to the air cleaner.

    I made a feeble attempt to rotate the tube but don't want to damage the tube. How much torque can I put on the tube to put it back at the correct angle? Anyone have any experience with removing or rotating the tube that could share their experience?

    It should rotate but may be seized or siliconed in the block. Undo the clamp at the top 7& try wobbling it around in a circle.

    There should be a flat spot on it that faces towards the fender- clearance for the generator.

    X2 on what Howard said. It's a tight slip fit, could also be that someone tapped on it to force it down to make it tight.

    Iffen it won't move, then wander down to your FLAPS and look into a small cone shaped air filter to go on there. That is what I have on mine. I also have a large cone filter on my carb because the oil-bath is missing. After market stuff works as replacement parts.

    That flat needs to face the left of the photo to match the original OEM position.

    With your alternator you may not care.

    I noticed that as well. It was originally positioned that way but the vent was not accessible turned toward the valve cover. That was the only way to get the vent hose on.

    Maybe the original hose had a formed elbow in it. :shrug:
