I'm needing to replace my fuel tank, I'd prefer to go with steel, Is there a particular favorite source for the better quality tanks, It needs to be exact fit.

Got mine from 4 wheel drive hardware, Morris 4x4 had them also.

My experience on replacing tanks on a couple 73 CJ's was that I needed 2 pairs of hands. Get a buddy to help you and you will have an easier time. It's not difficult, just awkward. If you don't have help try using a tranny jack or other jack to hold it up while you wiggle it into position. I may still have scars from the first one.

Spectra tank makes a decent quality steel tank and they are made on this continent.

I bought a Spectra from RockAuto. It is age appropriate with the bigger filler neck. I would second having a second set of hands or a tranny jack. You can do it alone, but it isn't as easy as it seems in your head.
