hey guys... i still can't get the electrical issue figured out. My Optima battery is only 2 years old and it seems to hold a charge fine. The alternator seems to be charging (pulled + cable off the batt while running and engine still ran). If it's not the battery and its not the alt, could the starter be going bad? The reason i thought of that is because i had a really hard time turning it over the other day when i was jumpstarting it off the TJ. Usually the TJ has enough juice to jump anything but, the flattie only clicked a few times... and then finally very reluctantly started.
Do starters just seize up when they go bad? any other ideas? i havent found any shorts or bad connections. I'm stumped :?

could be the bendix in the starter, you could always pull the unit, take it to the flaps and have it checked

cool... is there anything else i should check before i start pulling stuff off? anything i might be missing?
would a bad starter cause a battery to discharge quickly?

Make sure your connections are nice and clean - including the one everyone seems to overlook the ground (both ends). Check the voltage PRE starter work (AMPs if possible too). Check the draw on the starter when hitting it and the POST voltage and AMPs on the bat. Just pullin the starter and having it tested at a FLAPs will tell you most of this on it's own with out that much work.

Oh - check your ambition. Most jeep guys start pulling things and forget when to stop. :)
