Dumb Commando Question

    I know next to nothing about commandos, so bear with me here.

    Can you remove a hard top from a Commando and fit a convertable top on it, or are they different models?

    The convertible and the station wagon had different tubs IIRC. Someone here removed the hard top from theirs and found pockets for the convertible IIRC.

    A soft top will go on a hard top station wagon though. But a convertible would be some work I'd think.

    Depends on your definition of convertile. If you mean a true convertible that has the roll down rear windows then no, it's not something you can just put on. If you had a vert tub with all the parts needed it could be swapped over but it's a LOT of work. I know one guy that did it though.
    If you mean a removeable soft top then yes, but the problem is finding someone who still makes one with all the hardware. There is one company but the name escapes me right now.

    Bestop is the only one who still makes soft tops if thats what you mean.

    A soft top does not make a commando a convertible though.
