Is there any easy way to determine what size intermediate shaft is in my Dana 18 transfer case? I'm starting to collect the parts for the rebuild of both the D18 and the T90 and I want to make sure I get the right parts.

All I know is that my tranny/xfercase assembly came out of a truck or a wagon, because it didn't have the e-brake setup on it.

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

get a caliper and you can measure the shaft from the ouside of the case. Go under the jeep and look at the Tcase. The shaft is visible, unless covered by crud. Look for a bolt and lock plate holding in a large round (with flat side for lock plate) piece of metal. this is the shaft. measure the size of it and you will knw what shaft you have.

My old 62 wagon had the E-brake so I dont know if thats a good way of determining where it came from.

Same story with your e-brake, the norm was on the rear brakes for the wagons and pickups. Who knows who did what since stuff can be easily swapped out. :) :hurrican:

    Two weeks ago.

Actually, I'm ordering up the parts today from Herm, and looking to start pulling it all apart next week sometime. All I have to do now is make enough room in the garage to work...

    Yaknowhuddi mean?

Well, I was asking to see if you needed help. Since I am going to do mine soon, I would love to see / help with the process. When you get the parts, lemme know if you would like some company. If the timing is right, I'd be there ;) Pittsburgh isn't all that far from me :)
