Oh. OK. I thought there was some issue with where the TRE screws into the tie rod. My bad for misunderstanding.

So, these are standard JEEP TREs. I thought you were using some HD substitute. Like from a 3/4 ton truck or something.

With dana 30 knukkle i'm not sure there is enought meat around the tapper hole to get 1 ton TRE. If you use the insert for the TRE you need to drill a 1 inch hole, the jeep TRE need a 3/4" hole to fit.

I did get a HD tie rod kit. The TRE'S look larger but fit the stock knuckle location. I will see if I have an old TRE to compare to the new ones. I agree with Johneyboy on drilling anything larger than 3/4" would not be good.

I've worn out TRE's, but I can't say I've ever broken one on a Jeep..... I'd think a 1 ton TRE would be total overkill on these.

Agreed, doubt it would be easy to break one. My TRE's are not 1 ton. I got rid of the old ones so I am unable to show a comparison to the new ones.
Wheeling tomorrow and then hopefully I can start removing the D27. I will be posting it "for sale" in a week or so.

The standard brake lines for a 79 CJ5 are only 16" long. I tried searching for an alternate with no luck. Anyone have a P/N for a longer D30 brake line? The Chevy lines I have are 20".

I'll get a pic up later but I am hoping to pull the D27 today. Hopefully it will go smoothly.

I'll check it out. I had 2 stainless but one was rubbing and had a hole in it and I had to replace it. The original Chevy ones were way cheaper.

Crown performance makes them as long as you want and with whatever fittings. They helped me out and did a great job.

I run the original chevy on my coil spring set-up, even a full flex i still get some loose.

You can also just modifi the hard line to get lower on the frame.

I found a pn for a 4" longer than stock, making it approx. 20". 16735.04. A bunch of places carry them for around $30. I think I can use the one braided I have a will pick up one of these for the other side.

I'm probably out in left field but the p/n 16735.04 is for the rear brakes. I think you are looking for p/n 16734.05 which is a front brake flexible hose.

Correct p/n from above is 16734.05. I could only find them sold in pairs.
    Thanks for the help.

I just need to remove the old brake lines and take off the shackles and the old D27 will be out. I have a couple of pics of it hanging.
I also need to figure out what to do about my Confer u plate skids. I think I remember someone saying they will work on the D30, need to open the holes a little?

The D27 is out and the D30 is in. Super easy to swap. A pic of the 27 hanging and the 30 partially in.

I did run into another issue. I think I read about it on here somewhere. I have the shocks mounted in front of the axle and there is major interference at full turn. I am going to search for pics of how they can be mounted behind the axle.

I suppose I could limit the travel left to right also. I need to do more research. Is it better to have the shock in front or behind the axle?

I read through a few threads I searched for. They said to make sure everything is tightened up and then try it. A couple of posts said to make sure the limiting bolts are adjusted correctly. I am heading out of town for business tomorrow so this will need to wait until mid next week. I also found a crack all the way through the u bolt plate at one of the u bolt holes.
I had some 2 degree shims and the driveshaft seems to be perfectly aligned (angle). The driveshaft itself seems like it fit right also, no need to lengthen or shorten.
