How about a Ford 2.3 complete with all the injection stuff from a Ranger or something like that ? I flogged the snot out of a 90' to over 300k miles. Granted it was using a quart a week by then...

Edit: just saw Weldrr post in the other thread. I concur, easy t90 adapt too.

The swamp racers in Florida modify these 134's, if you research some of those organizations or do a web search on modifying these engines you will probably garner the info you need.
On the other hand, the 2.5 Jeep four cylinder and later 2.4 may be a viable alternative with the added plus of factory fuel injection, I put 274,000 miles on a 2.5 in a '95 YJ. Good luck!

I'd like somewhere in the 90-100HP range (but not really over that), I think. Not sure I believe the 20% hype on the Clifford header, but I can buy into a 90HP FHead with some of the fixuns Keys has talked about, head/block milling (I'd love to be north of 9:1), maybe exhaust valve work and a mild cam. I've been digging into options a bunch lately. Looking at what other OEMs did with VERY similar FHead motors, 90HP does not seem out of proportion and stays within my current propane system's capacity. The oiling still scares me but somewhat getting over that. I think I'm over my initial horror of the connecting rods. I gotta remember this isn't a > 1HP per CI motor lol.

Goal: I want to be able to drive 55-60 and tow a small trailer at the same time without having to flog the thing and grenade it (thinking 70% OD from Herm). I do know the 2.5 YJ (with an auto to boot) can do this and that rig is much heavier.

I also don't mind some F134 turd polishing if it keeps me from having to re-mod stuff I've done already, and meets my goals.

I don't mind losing some off idle torque if I get a broader usable mid range (header and cam). I have a T90c I can swap in to remedy some/all of that loss.

So no one ever made an overhead valve conversion head for the L134 like Ardun made for the flathead F#&d?

Technically Willys did with the FHead. What I don’t know is if you can put a FHead on your L bottom. I know the motors swap easy enough, and they are available enough that we don’t see much of that.
