I have a 72 CJ5, Inline 6. I would like to swap out the carter two barrel carb that I have had nothing but troubles with. Has anyone heard of a new mod that I could go with ?

    Welcome from KS!

I think the Motorcraft 2100 will work on the I6, if you look around I think you can find some guides on how to do this.

A '72 will have a 1bbl Carter YF carb unless someone changed it. You need to identify the 2bbl that's on your Jeep before you consider any changes. Post a picture; we'll help.

The Motorcraft requires a plate adapter; works fine. I have one on my pickup. Realize that this is a conversion to a junkyard carburetor (typically), and you have to work out the details yourself. Search the net - you'll find lots of articles about this swap.

You can also buy a kit that supplies a new Weber and all the parts to bolt in. The price is around $400-500 or so.

Other carbs will work too. Carter 2Vs came original on some Dodges, and a Studebaker Stromberg will bolt on (if you can find one!). The Motorcraft has the same pattern as a Holley 2V, so you can use that too with some mods. The Motorcraft is thought to be better off-road than the Holley, but some people like Holleys.
