    Just become the owner of a 2nd jeep....has been sitting in the desert for for years...thought you all might be able to give me some feed back on just what it is. I know its military has 24v batt box but has the v6 engine...with lots of gear levers. Also has power steering and the steering conversion.

    Looks like a M38a1 with a V6 (and 12V) conversion.

    What the heck is that in the engine compartment, driver's side firewall with the fan on top?

    Looks like an air compressor to me. I've seen one that looked like that in a Jeep before.

    Power brake booster? There is a quick connect air fitting on the other side by the alternator.

    Appears to be 3 stage, I'd imagine the fan is for cooling. I noticed the quick connect too, interesting setup. :)

    I'd say overdrive; the PTO shift lever cover is still present.
    Wonder if the gearboxes are full of water?
    What kind of transmission cover is that?
    2 pieced together to make one?
    I do see a good roll of electrical tape....

    We NEED more pictures please.

    Based on the lack of rust on the tub floor I'd be surprised if the gear boxes are filled with water.
