Mine is leaking from the weep hole so it’s time to replace but I was wondering just how difficult it would be to rebuilt.
So, anyone ever done it? Is it even worth it? Most of the rebuild kits I’m finding aren’t much cheaper than a decent HV pump off Ebay.
    It’s a short SBC pump off a ’65 327 ci. engine.

Water pumps are so cheap for something like an old Chebby, IDK why you'd even bother.

In my experience, the rebuilt pumps from a pro rebuilder did not last very long. Maybe you can do better ... but I expect they are getting the same parts you would get in a rebuild kit.

Rebuilt starters and alternators are kinda ok, but I recommend a new, quality pump.

I've done it for my f-head jeeps in the past, and it was simple enough. But I wonder if you could even get the parts these days, and pumps are relatively cheap.

IIRC you will need access to a press to get the pump apart and back together. I'd put a new one in it.

I do have access to a hydraulic press but Tim has a great point that the pumps you get from rebuilding shops that do this sort of thing for a living aren’t great and I’m sure I couldn’t do any better than they do. Sounds like time for a new one.
