Anti-theft device?

Do what I do, just get out the cherry picker and pull the engine every night. You can get pretty quick w/ practice, just sucks in the rain/snow.







Or an idea I must give credit to Tom Brown jr., from one of his books is to just hang stinky roadkill from from your rollbar. You just have to run to the jeep and jump in and get rolling fast to blow the smell away.

 

I keep mine under 12'x10' carport. Then it has a car cover. I also have a GM steering column with a key so I can lock the column. I disconnect the battery and have a chain from the hood so I can lock it to the frame with a paddle lock. Its also is in my brothers back yard so you need to go through a gate to get to it.

I wish I still had my garage.

 

I to was concerned that my jeep would be missing when comeing back out of safeway.The first thing I installed was a battery shut off switch.These are verry easy for the thief to spot so step two was installing a silinoid inline from the battery I have one toggle switch on the dash that has to be on ,there is a green light next to it letting me know its on.This switch is also a kill switch in case of an emergency,it shuts all electricall power from the battery.If it ever rolls and gas is spilling out all be glad I spent the time installing it.I also have another toggle switch that opperates the shut down silinoid and I have that hidden real good.Its going to take a good thief some time to bypass our figure it out.I also install a brake lock I bought it at shucks Auto it comes with a warranty of $5000.00 if ever stolen.

 

Something I had set up once...have an on off switch next to other accesory switches up side down so up is off then wire that to a seperate coil under the dash with a long plug wire going to the drivers seat attached to a snap button (like a coat snap) and a second snap about six inches away with a ground wire attached. Both snaps positioned at but cheek distance..
My son said it wouldn't work so I invited him to have a seat and flip the switch.....Man I NEVER seen him jump out a car soo fastR) R) R)
Leave the switch on and since nothings there to complete the circuit it won't drain the battery (meaning butt cheeksR) R) )

 

Executioner, You made me think!! Hooking something like that to my gurbage can for my neighbors dog.Now that I would like to see.

 

I have a battery on/off switch along with a toggle switch for the electric fuel pump. When I store the jeep for an extended time, I gentlely pull the coil wire through the boot, but leave the boot attached.

 

Lots of ideas using chain as the locking mechanism. I figure most 'bad guys' carry bolt cutters, so chains easily defeated.

Using a beefy gauge cable instead might be better, with a bolt cutter resistant lock. Not so many people carry around cable cutters, and bolt cutters don't do very well on cable.





I like the hidden ignition kill switch idea, and the electric fuel pump cut-off switch

 

All the ideas are great for long term storage.Butt when your running around town and stop at your favorate store its nice to just flick a toggle switch and know someone isnt going to hot wire the Willy any time soon.

 

You could always flatten the tires, then they figure it doesn't run. On board air.


Personally, I think I'll just have the windshield ground in my perscription.
