Another Air Cleaner Thread...

    Searching through some CL jeep parts postings and found what I think is a viable dry element air filter housing in one of the pics (although it wasn't listed for sale)...I talked to the seller and he thinks it might have come off his old v6 jeepster. He definitely doesn't have the aluminum spacer that goes under it, and said the bottom hole that fits on the carb is close to 4-5" in diameter. Does this sound right - I can't get in front of my jeep but I feel like the v6 2g is quite a bit smaller than that.

    Looks like 2-5/8" would be appropriate. I guess some 4 barrel large v8 could have that big of an opening on the top of the carb? I kind of think he measured wrong - can't get him to send me a photo yet. The filter housing is in the first picture with the seats....Whaddaya think? Worth a 30 min drive to the other side of town and traffic to find out - $20 if its right and figure out a spacer later?

    Here is a dwg. that I made a long time ago for someone that wanted to make that spacer for the V-6 paper spacer. Hopefully this may help you.

    The Rochester 2G used on the CJ is 2 5/8"
    There was also a 2G used on larger engines with a 3 1/16" diameter, so take your tape measure when looking at a used air cleaner.
    The 5" diameter air cleaner fits Motorcraft and Holley 2 barrels, and virtually all 4 barrel carbs.

    Yeah... Worth it. Judging by the pictures, you might find some other treasures laying around his property.

    That's how some guys (like Daryl) score a truck of parts or even full Jeeps.

    That air cleaner look like generic GM from the 1970s. The larger carb flange indicates its from a 4bbl application.
