Oh yeah, i saw that post but couldn't find it again. Thanks for the link. I even picked up a second 1/4" npt tap to make a bottom tap because of that post. Im going to try to drill/tap without disassembling the box and still on the jeep. Im hoping the fluid running out of the hole will flush the chips out.

My tube fenders were pretty simple. Page 30 of my build. Call text or message me if you want more details.

Get one of those small extendable magnets to clean out the chips as you drill and tap, then flush it with fluid when you’re done. If you have a vacuum you don’t care about I did that as well.

Looks like hell has officially frozen over. A mystery package arrived that i wasn't expecting the other day. I look at the shipping label to see who the sender is and to my surprise it was from herm the overdrive guy. The OD shifter kit i ordered well over a year ago finally showed up. I honestly never expected to ever see it or my money again. For what little was in the kit, i have no idea what took so long to get in order to make the kit. Other than the actual shift lever the rest of the kit looked real mediocre at best and would probably bend in the first few uses. Ill probably just make the universal AA shifter work instead. Im glad i got my parts finally but definitely not happy with herm or the quality.

My herm od shifter flexed bad. The only thing I kept was the ends which I welded onto a rod which was more rigid.

Between all the stuff going on in my personal life and with work, I've been struggling with a serious lack of motivation to work on this jeep and haven't touched it all month. Hopefully over the holiday weekend ill make some progress. The mods i have planned aren't needed for the Rubicon trip but would still be nice to have.

Parts are still rolling in. I picked this up on amazon. My ARB compressor is still slow to air up my tires even with a 1 gal tank and after seeing how fast Co2 is on last years Colorado trip i knew i wanted to get a Co2 tank. The compressor with stay just to supply the air lockers. The whole setup including mounting bracket was around $330, definitely more affordable than the power tank branded kits.

Does a pony keg mounted to a tire carrier count as an open container?

Btw, my local welding supply that i get my argon from said it would only be $18 to fill the Co2 tank. Not as bad as i thought it would be.

I know we drive slow, but not slow enough to not shake it up. It would be drinkable in about a month.

A little weekend progress. Not as much as i was hoping to get done but its better than nothing. I picked up some steel to make brackets and to build the tube fenders. Also got the Co2 tank filled. I found some nice tube clamps on amazon to mount the tank to my rollcage. The genright bumper fit great but my steering gear box is mounted very high so a little clearancing was required. Genright sent 1/2" bolts but the holes are 5/8, so i got 5/8 flanged bolts instead. I need to order 45* fittings for the steering fluid cooler in order to mock up and install that.

Were you able to use any of the shifters/linkage you got from me a year ago or so?

When i was setting up the steering assist ram last weekend, i noticed that the fittings for the hoses were uncomfortably close to the crossmember above. I sent Kyle a pic to get his opinion and he aggreed. He recommended lowering the ram and rotating it for more clearance. As usual, he was right and if i set the ram as low as i can go and aim the fitting towards the motor a little i have much more clearance. I also noticed that the pre-installed 90* hose fittings were pretty tall compared to the fittings on kyles and Ryans rigs. Luckily the ram kit came with 2 90* adapter fittings and with these i gained another 3/4" of vertical clearance. This is close to were it will sit once the brackets are modified a little.
