    I found a 73 commando with a 304 and th400 a couple weeks back.
Been sitting for 5 yrs or more. Body is very solid one rust spot on
each rocker towards the back in the usual spot. Wiring is a nightmare!
Poured some gas in the carb hot wired coil Jumped across the solenoid
and it coughed. Little more gas fired right up. Put a new lower radiator
hose on it cleaned points and it runs like a top. So He needs a hard top
or soft top gas tank and sending unit. One wagon wheel. And a back seat.
That is his wish list so far. He is a hard worker and a saver so I am sure
We will have this old girl back on her feet before long.
We are going through the brakes this week. Then for our first drive.

If anyone knows where the parts we are looking for might be found in
idaho Washington or Montana it would be appreciated. No rush we have
time and are on a tight budget.

Your son has exquisite taste ;). Repro gas tanks are available from a couple of sources as well as the sending units. Check in the Vendor section, Jeepdog, aka Parts Dude 4x4 has steel tanks and sending units. There's a couple listed on eBay if you're looking for a little cheaper. I have a couple of saved sellers on eBay I can send you a link to if you want to go that way. They're the same as 73 to I believe 76 CJ5 rear fill so the sending unit will be the same. Can't think of anyone right off hand that's close to you but if your on Facebook there's a Jeepster/Commando Club page as well as the JCCA web site here-http://www.jeepstercommandoclub.com/. Sure to be someone that can help out with the other parts.

Thanks I will pass that along to him. As long as we have to buy a tank are there any that are over 20 gallon that will fit without making life too difficult?

i am not on Facebook but I will check out the jcca site
    thanks

That looks really nice. Pricey but nice. It says 67-72 is there a difference in the 73's like mine?

I just noticed that cause there is a difference between 67/71 and 72/73 in the way they mount to the frame as well as the fuel fill hose. I think some times these companies don't really know a lot about Jeepsters and Commandos :(. But, not to be discouraged, you could make it fit with a little time and a little more money since the only difference is where the tank mounting brackets are located and the fuel fill hose.
