Hey guys, like a dumb a$$, I threw out my old filter while rebuilding my Dauntless V-6, now I can't seem to find one that fits, its a 1965. All the books at Walmart don't go back that far, and the idiots at the auto parts store can't find a number. What are you guys running, tried to search posts but can't find anything. Thanks, Bruce

    I used Fram PH11.

The Dauntless started in 66 and that may be why the listing is not there.

The Dauntless was available in late model 65s, but parts lists dont include them until 66. I have an origional one in my 65, I order parts by giving 66 year.

At my FLAPS I said, "I need a WIX oil filter for a 1968 Jeep Dauntless V6." Guy said, "OK, here it is."

Pretty easy part to find. ;-)

I think the AC Delco 61 is the correct one.

I had the same issue. Everyone said the Fram PH11 and some other stuff but even those didn't work. It was a real head scratcher at the time. I went to three auto parts stores, each had a solution that was suppose to work; but none of them did. I finally found one that worked, but I can't remember which model number it was. I'll have to check tomorrow and report back. . .

I quit using WIX oil filters. They went with a so called state of the art silicone anti drain back valve. I learned this after some research on WIX oil filter's. Reason being upon first start up of the day my oil pressure was building up too slow,( Mech. gauge )sometimes with the lifter's clacking. Before the WIX I used AC Delco PF- 24 with almost instant oil pressure. AC Delco uses a spring loaded anti drain back valve. When changing the oil and WIX filter I noticed there was no oil coming out of the filter and running all over the front differential. When changing the AC Delco there is oil coming out of the filter. It's anti drain back valve is working. I pull my drain plug at night and pull the filter in the morning. Just my 2 cents worth. Those of you using the WIX oil filter pull your drain plug at night and the filter in the morning and you will find out ,no oil comes out of the filter. It's drained back into the pan.

Interesting. But I don't get the part about pulling the plug the night before. Are you saying that if you pull the plug and then immediately pull the filter, you will get oil running out? The filter is upside down, so how would it drain once the motor is shut off? I thought the filters just have a small bypass feature to make sure the engine is getting some oil while running in the event of a clogged filter. Maybe I don't understand how it works. I get oil running out of the WIX every time and set a little basting pan on the axle to catch it.

Oops, sorry. I just looked at my filter and it's not upside down. I've been working on my Chevy van so much lately I got them confused. I'm due for an oil change in the Jeep. I'll try your method And see what happens.

I would expect the Hastings LF 212 to be a premium filter.
    Anyone running those ?
