My 71 had one of those AMC tailgate badges, but it blew off in a car wash years ago.
Here's another renegade I was interested in buying years ago that has same tailgate sep 1970 build. It had been restored so any badge would be gone. His dash says Jeep not Kaiser.
On your October ordered 1970 renegade does the dash vin actually have a Kaiser Jeep printed on it. It must be a very late 1970 model thank you for providing this purchase document
looks like i have a classmate of that sept 70. amc badge on tailgate as well
Thanks, and I've added the info for both of these to the database.
The second photo montanacj included in post #32 of this thread shows that Kaiser Jeep dash decal. Though this Jeep wasn't sold by the dealership until October 1970, the decal indicates that it was manufactured in April of '70.
The 1970 model year production appears to have ended sometime during August of '70.
Thanks W2SNO. Maury, the amount of W2SNO's information is mind blowing! Not only can he tell you the day your jeep rolled off the assembly line, but can tell you every option, color and trim codes. He also has a blue print of every part, including every nut and bolt. Pretty mind blowing! He is the reason we know the "462" model was produced. He has the actual order form from Jeep to the dealers. Keith.
It's truly awesome to know that this information exists, and is safely in the hands of one of our community!
I read and re-read the article in Dispatcher Magazine a couple of years ago about the 462. It's a fascinating piece of Jeep history. I hope to get to actually see one of those Jeeps someday.
I worked with W2SNO and Jim Allen on that article. There is a pic of one of my "462"s in the article.
Jeep started all there new models on August 1st.
I have a 1972 Model Year CJ5 built in Sept. 1971, Vin J2F835TH07575, 304 V8, 3 speed manual.
Purchased in 1978 with 47,000 miles. Now has 57,000 miles.
I have all tag pics, jeep is all original, and a early 1972 build. Heater controls separate under dash, Oil & amp gauges, headlight switch in dash at left of steering wheel, No windshield pad, short 3 speed stick.
As soon as I can post pictures, I will add the tag and other pictures.
I look forward to your pics, my 1972 Jeep like yours is a early sept 1971 ending in 62xx, pic of radiator support has some numbers letters stamped on top if they are still there.
Min is 9 16 I believe this is day it came off assembly line. What is the engine code on your passengers front valve cover it is a tag with a screw in the center
Thats always been my thought that 9-22-71 was the day it was built.
Engine Tag - 409H08
I believe that would be September 8. 1971 mine is august 22 1971
Correct, the engine tag is September 8, 1971. The 9 22 stamp on the radiator support indicates Sept. 22, 1971 build date - right? You are a month older!
I have 2 early Renegade 1's. 362017 & 362023. Both Prairie Gold color. October '69 build dates.
My Renegade 1 has a build date of September 1970. It is orange and the VIN is 367694. It has a metal dash tag from the Bureau of Automotive Repair titled ENGINE IDENTIFICATION. I think it has a replacement motor as the metal dash tag shows a 64 in the box for year.
