Seems like they're priced a bit steep. Seven grand for a little dinky diesel? Meh... I'm sure next year's Sema show will be over run with them though

Yep I agree........Although I think for a trail Jeep towed to the mountains it will be fine with that 267 ft lbs of available torque between 1500-3000 rpm's ...........but at only 161 HP @ 3600 Rpm's it's not going to fare very well on the freeway pushing anything with a flat windshield..............

I don't know... I have a buddy with an unmolested 1.9 TDI bug engine (90~104 hp (depending on the year)/150~180 lb-ft) in his jeep and he seems to have no problem running down the highway at 70~75. I don't know exactly how he is geared. But my pockets just aren't deep enough to pay $7k~10k for a only 161 hp. Maybe I'm overly budget minded but you can get a complete crate small block with a for less than half that.

I agree, Way too expensive. However you pretty much just quoted the specs of the Dauntless. :D

Your right , but in both cases that is peak HP at the given RPM........no one cruises on the freeway at peak HP....................and although the V6 can be adequate in most applications , I think it really needs 4:56 or 4:88 in the back to use the OD.........especially trying to pass on the freeway with that heavy boat anchor flywheel.........Changed mine to a 32 lb flywheel and it made all the difference.....

I haven't logged in in a while. Ironically I need help on finding an appropriate radiator for the 4.3 v6. I now own three new radiators that I've "tried". I will ship all back. None fit. I need one that is no taller than 18" high (including cap) and no wider than 21.75" wide. What have you all done?

My build puts my radiator directly on top of the OEM crossmember. Should I just cut that down?? The 19" x 22" rad I have would fit great if the crossmember wasn't there.

    Thanks for your help.

(Sorry to steal back my thread!!)

Nah..............I would try to find something that fits..........have you looked at an early Mustang radiator?

Lots of choices out there including going to places like Griffin and others that will build one to size.

This one below is 18.88 x22 but I don't know if the outlets fit your application

This is the exact radiator that I have been using in '45 flat fender with Chevy v-6 and it has worked well.

Did you have to put it on top of crossmember or were you able to push motor back far enough to drop it in behind cross member?

Turns out I do have the same one that super trooper used. But it seems flimsy! That one fits the best for sure. But only 1.5" depth so I'm cautiously skeptical on cooling capacity!

I was able to set the radiator behind the cross member. To help with clearance I tilted the radiator top slightly forward.

The AMC20 was stripped and POR15. Deleted the old spring perches and welded on new ones. Was a few days of work. But the rear end looks a lot better now. Both axles are now in and the Jeep rolls...

Right! And then you noticed the shackle angles and thought they didn't look right.... but then realized the tires are sitting an inch above grade... ;-).

Got the PCM bracket fabbed up, painted and mounted. Much easier with the dash pulled off!!

    Question/Poll:
    Thoughts on:
Run wire loom inside of frame rail or outside? Exhaust will be dual and run inside of frame rails.
    Thanks.
