Finishing up the install of a 2000 4.3 FI chevy engine in my cj2a. If you performed this swap, where did you mount yours?

I mounted mine in the center of the fire wall under the dash with heavy duty Velcro, held up through the rubicon so I guess it has plenty of holding power. Not sure of the under dash situation on a 2a.

I also used industrial velcro. On the interior of the firewall opposite the v6 battery tray.
I drilled out the speedometer cable hole for the harness to pass.

My firewall had a battery insert that goes under the dash on the passenger side. I think I will make a mount on the passenger fender with a heat shield. It surprisingly large..

There isn't a lot of under dash room on a 2a, especially with swinging pedals. There also isn't a lot of firewall space with power brake boosters and hydraulic clutches..

But I see what Duffer has done.. So guess I need to get creative.

We should have almost the same computer

I did bought a delco replacement computer mounting braket. Use a a metal plate that has been formed to meet the line of body.

The harnest follow the body, goes over the glove box.

It goes out right behind the engine for a clean job

    Hi Chris ,
No experience here with the 4.3 swap , however a lot with the Buick 231 Turbo SFI. Anyhow, I know that any ECM, PCM , or computer's pretty much require a fairly clean ' home ' . This is why the majority of them are placed in the cab , under the dash ,or along the inside passenger side Kick panel .

Another place you see them in production vehicles is under a false floor in the passenger foot well kick-up. Not so great removing leg room in a normal CJ2, but with your stretch it might work fine.

Zip tie it to the roll cage so you can kick it when it gets fussy.

I wish I could have mounted mine higher. It’s a big concern with water crossings. If there’s any way you can get it on the underside of the cowl, that would be my vote.

3DBD8124-CDFF-4844-A058-63DA25A5B639.jpeg There is no room under the cowl. Im probably going to mount it sideways on the fender with the 4 connections pointing back toward the firewall, Its about where a stock battery mount would be, but there is a shock mount there now..

Tore out the remainder of the old wires going to the ignition switch that were used for the 225.. Sad to see them go... Happy to be closer to being able to do burnouts on 35's with this junk pile.... until the small tube D44 full float explodes..

that ecm usually lives under the hood anyway i say stick it there. tip the connectors down a little to keep em clean? heck the one ton at work has two mounted to the frame behind the cab, you should see the salty slush that gathers there.

My XJ is under the front drivers seat ? We put my CJ 's behind the glovebox , above the heater box. Most likely the old School way......:)

I rubber mounted mine to the right inner fender under my battery.

The exhaust gets really hot so try to keep the ECM away from it.
