When I originally built my flatfender (about 30 years ago), I ordered a 11" brake conversion kit and I don't remember from who. Now, I am restoring again and would like to replace or rebuild the wheel cyclinders. Can anyone come up with the manufacturer or what vehicle the wheel cylinders in these kits were from.

    Thanks for any help

We'll need a bit more information- is there a proportioning valve involved? if so you probably require 1 1/8" cylinders front & rear, if not then you'll need the smaller
    15/16' cylinders in thee rear.

If you got a kit based on postal DJ brakes then the cylinders are different from the CJ parts, the DJ parts have a "straight out" hose connection & same part left/right, the CJ pieces have angled connections & are separate part numbers for right/left.

There's been discussion of Wagner etc. p/n's here before, a search should turn them up.H ere's what i have for the actual Jeep/AM General p/n's-

Post some pictures of the brakes with the drums removed. A conversion kit is almost certainly 11" Bendix self-adjusting brakes. They can come from several different vehicles, though the most plentiful source of the backing plates is a mid-60s Ford F-100 pickup. The drums and shoes are probably from a '72-73 CJ-5. If they are Bendix 11" brakes, springs and adjusters for any of the appliations that used them will work fine. You need to measure the inner diameter of the wheel cylinders and replace them with either the same size cylinder from any one of the Bendix 11" applications, or get the rebuild kit for that application.

I have an 11" X 2" brake conversion on my 2A. This is a set of Bendix brakes from a mid 70's CJ5 (I think). I am in the middle of a complete rebuild and recently ordered a set of 1" wheel cylinders from R&P along with a dual MC kit. Have not installed yet, but expect that I will feel a bit safer with this set up.
