Has anyone found another source, besides 4x4 labs, for an adapter. Im most interested on an adapter to any tranny compatible with the d18 or 20 transfercase. I just can't afford to spend the $1000 right now to by one from 4x4 labs. Maybe someone here has fabricated one. Let me know.
    Thanks,
    Joel

I'd like to see pics of the 220d in your cj. Is that the 2.2L 4 cylinder motor ? I have heard that the 2.5 5 cylinder mercedes motors are not ideal.. because of the big oil pan it has in front of the motor as it sticks down low and gives the front axle no clearance.

Actually you can modify the oil pan to clear the front diff. Of you can get one already modified online. I think it would be cool to have the turbo under the hood.

Thats interesting.. I also heard that the oil pump and pickup is in that area of the oil pan making it not possible to modify the oil pan, but however some have done some kind of stump oil pump or electric conversion to get around that problem. Do you have any info on this ? Where did you find the modified oil pan at ? I also think that the 2.5 5 cylinder mercedes motor is a rather large and heavy motor, and IHO is too big for a early cj5. Its similar in size to a amc 258 or 4.0 and weight is a little bit more. So.. I am interested in hearing more about the 2.2 4 cylinder mercedes motor. I am fairly new to this subject and dont know much about the different mercedes motors.

Here's the link to the oil pan. I don't remember if a modification is needed for the oil pickup. It's been a while...I need to do some more research. I had it all Planned out a while back. You will have to switch to an electric fan to make room in the engine bay. Tight fit, but it will fit. I seen it done

The 240D and the 300DT has the exact same bolt pattern. If that helps you any. Plenty of 240D stick shift around cheap. You can also ad a turbo to a 240D keep the boost down of course.
