PTO Winch.

    Hi all,
    The next project for my kids 71 CJ5 is the PTO winch. I have acquired a Koenig #51 PTO unit along with a Ramsey 8000lb winch #200. I am looking for some pictures of the drive shaft and pillow block set up. This Jeep is bone stock minus the Headers which in this case might actually help with room. If anyone has some pictures of the Drive shafts and pillow block I would greatly appreciate seeing them. Edit to add: 225 V6, T18, Model 18.

    The clearances are very tight. Be prepared to work it out a little at a time, with allowance for fine adjustments.

    My Jeep already came with the whole setup, but I had to have most of the driveline remade because at some point during it's previous life, the carrier bearing went out and it seazed up on the drive shaft, scored and bent it. Also, 2 of the ujoints were seazed up on those drive lines and had to be machined off, therefore destroying it. Part of the problem was that when it was new, the dealership only had a 4 cyl carrier bearing setup from Ramsey and they just "mickey moused" in on the v6 bell housing. I drew up a plate, bought a farm implement bearing that was the correct shaft size and had a machine shop make it out of 1/4" plate. I also found new ujoints and the machine shop made the front new drive line. They cut key ways and set screws for everything. Luckey for me, my area is heavy on oil/gas drilling so there are several businesses that had all that kind of stuff. The U-joints came off the shelft from a bearing and hydrolic hose place. Your biggest obsticle is going to be fabbing up that carrier bearing plate. If anyone wants to get one, the guy at the machine shop I used said they saved the plans on their machine to make more. It bolts to the bell housing ontop of the cover plate. It's kind of expensive, but the way I thought about it was, where else am I going to get this?

    The diagram and the pictures sure help a lot. I have the same PTO and winch, and I plan on using these to help me when it comes time to reinstall my set-up. The only difference being I have the F-Head engine. I realize the pictures were taken during your rebuild, but dang, that is one CLEAN Jeep!8)
