    Cut????

I have two hard tops to choose from for my cj5 pick up project (cab seperate from bed). The first is a steel Koenig top w/ doors I belive and the second may be a Meyers, not sure, its aluminum. Both are solid. The aluminum top doesnt have matching doors though and it has two extra windows in the rear. But I dont wont to cut up one that may be of value so looking for some advice.

    here some pics:

My first wreck was because some, uhh, *fine fellow* decided to pass me from my blind spot while I was turning left. I was driving a Jeep with a top similar to the first one above. I like visibility -- I'd go with the one with bigger/more windows.

well itll be cut to make a pickup cab so the big side windows wont be there and there will be a canvas cover over the bed so extra back windows wouldnt be useable

And thats exactly why i have the secaond top on now

I like the second one for the same reasons, more/bigger windows. Better visibility and a bit more aesthetically pleasing.

Cut the steel one...because the aluminum one is better.

OK, I missed that detail in the first post. In that case, I agree with DREDnot -- spare the aluminum one. In fact, I'd spare them both and just fab something from scratch.

I wouldn't do anything to them....they are very cool, especially the one with all the windows. Mine has 3 windows in the back ( including tailgate), but your's has 5....I haven't seen that before.

Swap the one without doors for a half cab, or just cut a section out of it and make a 1/2 cab. Retain the rear hatch so you can remove it in nice weather. Neither of them are so valuable that you can't slice one of them up.

Unless of course you don't even have one, let alone two.............chainsawguy

I presume that the one with the extra windows is aluminum.

I'm not a big fan of hard tops on Jeeps, but if I had to have one, I'd pick the one made of aluminum. Steel doors from a Meyer cab might fit it. Add your location to your sig or user header, and somebody in your area might have some for you. I have a couple of doors in my basement that I'd give away, but I think you're too far away.

The steel one with the small windows would have terrible visibility.

Why not go with a soft top? They are much more pleasant to drive, and visibility is better under most conditions.

The all black one looks like an Amish buggy. Specifically they ones they use as school buses to haul their kids to school. Small windows, severe black. Boxlike.
