box under driver seat

i will soon be replacing floor pans and braces on my 73 cj5 soon. my question is did this model jeep come with a open end box under driver seat? i know that they have a tool box under the pasenger side but dont know about the one under driver side. and dont see what it would be used for. can anyone tell me? if it didnt come with it im not going to put it back in.

 

The original steel body on my '73 had no box under the driver's seat, only one under the passenger's

 

Mt 75 didn't. Just the tool box under pass. seat.

 

No box. When the under-seat tank went away, Jeep left an empty space. It remained empty until '76, when the seats, floors and seat brackets were completely redesigned (and sadly the passenger side under-seat tool box went away).

mine has a box under each seat, quite helpful as you can get extra axels etc all in there, on mine both sides connect. The PO must have added it
