    Rant Section:
I'm sick and tired of chasing my tail on this darn machine. Seems like I get everything running right, let it sit for a few days, and everything is gone to crap. I can't get repeatable results. Used to have great idle & drivability, then it'd idle but not drive under load, now having trouble with both. I've rebuilt the carb several times, rejetted, recurved, rotor, gaskets, plugs, wires, changed timing, fuel pump/filter/line, etc... This damn ethanol is just killing me, had to deal with vapor lock, eating through gaskets, it even softened my accelerator pump enough to turn INSIDE OUT in a week! Shame manufacturers don't make replacement components that are compatible with today's fuel. China just doesn't give a rat's butt about changing the parts they are making.

    Question:
I'm not asking for solutions to running issues with this post, just wanting to know where y'all have gotten some rebuilt Rochester 2Gs. I've got fuel leaking out the throttle shaft and that's the very last thing on the carb I've yet to fix. I can get the bushing replaced locally for $44, but I'm sure something else will screw up with my current carb and make the repair useless just like every other one I've done thus far.

    Oreilly Auto - Timco $189
    Advance Auto - United $134
    http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Carbsale.htm
http://www.vintagespeed.com/carbs.htm - $145 w/ my core. Doesn't say anything about replacing the throttle shaft bushing though
Autozone & Napa don't carry one

Anyone have good sources for the base gaskets? There are apparently 3 types and Napa/Autozone only seem to carry one.

Everything I've bought for my 2g has come from Vintage speed. I had a link saved for when I was going to buy a carrb, but I can't find it now. I'll see if I can figure out who it was from.
And just so you know, i had quite a time with acc. pumps myself. The one I have now came from Vintage speed. So far, so good. But, I also figured out I was pumping the accelerator a little to much to start, which screwed up my cups. HTH

John - you might want to let me know a time and swing by. I'll see what I have for parts. I have moved away from the 2G, but last I looked I had several of them still here. ******* (neighbor) got my last 'known' good 2G, but I think I have some others.

You will have better luck building the carb yourself, or be sure to NOT turn in the core before you verify the new one. These can be hard to come by.

FWIW, fuel leaking out the throttle shaft is not an indication of worn throttle shaft bushings. It's due to the carb dumping too much fuel at idle or with the engine off. The fuel puddles up on the throttle plates & seeps out the throttle shaft.

    :iagree:

Check the float settings closely, it sounds like you may have the float set too high, which allows fuel to continue to flow when the bowl is full.

I've also been having some trouble with erratic idle, just trying to eliminate everything. OEM spec is .004-.006" and I'm at .004 & .008. Also noticed a bit of stagger difference with spraying carb cleaner directly on the opening. About the only part that hasn't been replaced right now is the HEI dizzy cap & coil (2k miles). Something just ain't working and I've been at the 'Gonna burn this sum ditch down' point for 5 months.

The fuel is only flowing when the pedal is pressed, so no worries there.

I've ordered a few parts from Vintage Speed, will have to look into the accel pump.

The last 2G I bought was from NAPA and it was p/n 2-416. I don't know if they have a number if that will make it easier to search their system. This was for a '67' with a manual choke. I'm using it now, and it seems to work fine. The owner of the store was a bit dubious, so some rebuilds may not have been as good as mine. I did put smaller jets in it as I'm at about 5000 ft. elevation.

    HTH.
