Starter compatibility - '74 to '73

Hey all,

Ive looked all over for a starter for my 73 CJ5 specifically and cant find one... Is there any reason this wouldn't work on mine?

It says 74-87... but it seems to me like it should fit, especially since it fits through so many other years/changes.

It would help to know what engine you have, but Rock Auto shows only one part number for I6 and 304 applications. They show the same part number for 73 and 74 model years and it's only $44.79.

Any local auto store should be able to look up the same part. It's not particularly rare, they used the same starter on AMC engines for years.

I just used Google Shopping and entered "73 Jeep starter" and found tons of hits. This place has them for $27
