    Hi guys,
So last weekend I traded for a 1969 Commando. During this week I had to put a new rag joint on the steering, take the radiator in for some repairs and replaced the thermostat while I was at it. I fixed a couple rattles, welded up a couple exhaust leaks, got it insured and registered. It's been a busy week, and I gotta say I LOVE this thing! I wasn't able to drive it before I got it and had no idea how peppy that little 225 is. I can't believe how strong it runs. I do plan on either adding a Petronics or HEI, not sure which one yet. Anyways, just wanted to say that this is really a bitchin little Jeep, but of course you guys already know that. I've had 3 CJ-7's over the years along with a late 60's Jeep pickup but this is my first Commando. It's really kinda nice that you don't see them a lot. I'm gonna be spending quite a bit of time here and appreciate all the info that's been posted.

I have all the glass and the rear hatch for the top. They just aren't installed. I now have a bikini top on it from a YJ. It's the safari style and it fits perfectly on the roll cage.

Thanks guys :) What is a Kelly hard top? So here's a shot of my YJ Safari bikini top and my E-code IPF headlights. Screw the DOT crap :) I also laid down some runner from Home Depot as carpet. What a difference in sound and heat.

Kelly was an aftermarket supplier of hard tops. Good article HERE if you want to read up on them. They also made a halfcab top for Jeepster/Commando, only ever saw a picture of one of those.

That's interesting about the Kelly tops. I've never heard of them. Thank you for the link. This is my first Commando so there's a lot of learning to be had. I'd like to restore the top but ideally I'd like to run a full soft top in the winter and then for summer just the bikini that's on it now.
