Last summer I replaced the 43 year old seal that goes under the wndshield frame because it had leaked down the dash the winter before. It was stiff as a board and I bought a new one at 4wheel parts not thinking the brand would matter. It was new and on the shelf. I do not know who made the seal. Installed it and this winter it leaked even worse than before. Could the leak be from somthing else? I also replaced the glass seal so it is new.
Question: Who makes the best windshield cowl seal?

    Thank you,

    Peter

peter how new is windshield frame - if its as old as jeep - did you look at channel above glass for any rust through - if you hit it with hose you should get a better idea if leak is high or low

I got one from Walcks4wd.com for my 1960. Fits and works like a champ! FWIW!

I think I got mine from JC whitney or some such, about 10 years ago. It leaks like crazy and it is all cracked along the front seam. I guess I'll have to make a call to walcks!

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but unless you can prove otherwise, I suspect Carl's source is the same as everyone else's for these semi-obscure sorts of items...

    Yep.
My last one was from 4wd hardware (that'll be my last order from them, for other reasons) and it was packaged as an Omix/ Rugged Ridge

Ron, Good idea on the upper section of the frame. Not much rust at all on this jeep and it looks pretty good. It has been garaged its whole life but well used. I replaced the glass seal because it was obviously letting in water at one spot. As soon as the rain stops here n Northern Cal I will test the water tightness of the windshield with a hose to see what it does. Otherwise it looks like Walck's for a new cowl seal even though it may be the same manufacurer.(Omix/ Rugged ridge.)

Thank you to all for your input.
