V6 Dauntless, Roch. carb, OEM rebuild, sometimes won't start. Cranks it for a awhile but no go. I pour some gas directling in carb and it fires right up. Thoughts on what the problem is?

Check the fuel pump and filter first...make sure the "go juice" is getting to the carb. and go from there.

Playing with the choke and think that might be the problem.

choke or no choke, I would still like to see two real strong squirts of gas going down the venturis when you pump the throttle. If it was idling good when you shut it off, there should be enough fuel in the carb bowl to start it.

I would look at the fuel pump and filter, then check the float and valve.

I had a similar problem one summer several years ago. I ended up pulling the top off the carb only to find that it was dry as a bone. This went on for about 3 weeks and then it somehow fixed itself. Never did figure out where the gas was going.

does it happen after the jeep has been running, like from a warm start?

After it starts, runs fine for rest of day.

I've decided its operator error. With a little more care with the choke and not flooding it with the gas pedal, its been starting fine this week.
