will the Buick Oddfire 225 bolt right in when a Dauntless comes out?

So I can't find mention of this anywhere. Lot's of talk about 225 oddfire into a 4cyl Jeep.

I found a 1965 Buick (skylark) owner who wants to transplant his 225/powerglide(type) setup to Chevy 350/350.

He rebuilt the 225 1500 miles ago and it runs and drives like a champ (the 2spd auto is a drag though). They are still in the car and run great.

He will sell to me at a VERY good price but I can't tell if it bolts into my CJ5 with semi smokey/stuck lifter dauntless.

I just want the engine with my flywheel and probably manifolds. although I am not happy with the long headers that are on my rig.

    any thoughts out there?

    thanks

Not sure about balancing for the flywheel but other then that it should work great. Stock manifolds off it should work well giving you drivers side rear dump (if you have converted steering already)

If the engine truly is a 225 Buick it will bolt right in and your 225 flywheel will bolt right up with the proper balance and all. The Buick 225 in the car is the exact same motor, maybe carb difference along with manifold, 1bbl Buick versus Dauntless 2bbl.

I have both - as Mike stated the only difference is normally the intake/carb/air cleaner. The Buick 225 'Fireball' motor is the same motor under the intake and inside the exhaust manifolds.

So my real world experience went like this.

Buick 225 bolts straight in. The engine I got had a brand new Holley 2 barrel on it so I left it. The flywheel bolted right up and a new pilot bearing went in with no troubles as the engine was on an automatic. I've always hated getting the old bearing out (maybe I just need the right tool?)

I may swap manifolds and get my rochester Dauntless manifold back on there but it's running sweet right now so maybe not.

I also used the headers that were on my rig. I'm not wild about them but I think the Buick manifolds were going to hit the stock steering. I'm hoping to either find stock Dauntless exhaust manifolds or maybe I can run the buick setup once I have the Saginaw steering in...

This is a little pricey but if you don't want to use the grease or toilet paper trick, it works great for pilot bushing removal.

I am curious what those skylark exhaust manifolds look like. I have a rear dump drivers side.. but it does not match my passengers. Any chance you can get a pic of them ?
