Here is the skinny, I put LED tail lights in my 70 CJ5. Upgraded the blinker switches to electric because the old thermal ones wouldnt blink the lights. I have noticed that the tail lights dont come on all the time when I use the head lights. Head lights work, brake lights work and turn signals work. Any ideas about weather the head light switch is bad or is it something that needs to be changed and upgraded as well? What part do I need if it is indeed an upgrade? Really sucks that I cant be out after dark.

What about the marker lights up front. If they are not coming on either, I would start at the HL switch.

With the symptoms you have described, I would be looking at the switch, or the wiring to the tail lights----also the taillight socket, and all the ground circuits.

You state that the tail lights don't come on all the time? So do you mean that sometime on and sometimes off? If this is the case, I would suspect your headlight switch. Wires being jiggled around on bumpy roads can cause intermittent connections and the same for grounds. A test light is your friend.

Checked the grounds. Front markers come on. I too am now looking at the switch. This current headlight switch is only about a year and a half old, however theystill can go bad. Thanks
