does the starter solenoid that that is mounted on the fender deed to be grounded? I have rhino lined my inner fenders so there is no metal to metal contact where it mounts up. if the solenoid needs to be grounded i will run a wire to one of the mounting bolts.

Many of them do require the solenoid housing to be grounded and some will have a small terminal going hot to start with the other small terminal having a ground wire connected to it. If you did not rhino line the under side of the fender, then a cleaned area around the mounting bolts should work.

they do need to be grounded. If you use self tapping screws to hold the solenoid down, that might be enough grounding.

Yes the base must be grounded through the fender, or with a ground wire.

as noted in the above replies, the solenoid needs to be grounded. i have 'glass fenders, so i run the ground directly to the neg. terminal on the battery.

When I built my '75 with a 'glass tub, I got blue colored battery cables with eyes on both ends,,,, went from the plow relay to the starter relay with a short cable, and then to the block ground with a longer one. the Blue cables matched the blue engine.....
