i'll try to get over and get pics tomorrow. i know it has a hard top, gas tank is still on left side, PO swapped in a L134(why i dont know) T90, d18. my friends into cj's in a big way and bought this one because he has never seen one like it either. i wanted the steering wheel for my 6 but if its worth saving he'll leave it whole.

I've never heard of such a thing, but if it is a true RHD CJ5 then it's something special. I think it's more likely a DJ5 that's been converted to 4WD. The DJ5's weren't (and therefore, aren't) very common, but from what I've seen/read, being hacked into a 4WD hurts their "specialness" quite a bit. Pics and info should clarify some. :)

If you decode most of the later VINs they do include a LHD digit, logic would dictate that it was to differentiate those from the RHD CJ-5s.

Not to mention I wheeled with a RHD CJ-6 a few years ago, not a conversion.

As a point, special and rare do not equate to desirable or make it worth saving in many cases, JMO.

True. Sorry about that. But could one safely say that a RHD CJ5 is even more rare than a DJ5?

I had a '74 RHD CJ6. It came from South Dakota. I believe it was used to deliver mail.

Growing up in South Dakota, I remember seeing rural route carriers driving RHD 4x4 Scouts in the 60's then those were replaced by RHD 4x4 Jeeps by the early 70's. Not very many of those that I remember though. I think they were contract carriers back then just like they are today. They were able to purchase their vehicles through the Post Office. JM2C

didn't make it over for pics today. he is going to part it out and scrap the rest.
just a few things i find odd:
    both front seats fold forward.
    clutch fork comes out rightside
clutch linkage is designed to bend up over front driveshaft.
vin puts it as a 58 cj5(but tag is held on with sheet metal screws)

will try to get pics next weekend

vin tag is on left side of firewall but looks like there used to be one on right side. this is not a for sale ad, but he is willing to sell all or parts. just trying to figure out what it is... did cj5's have the top bow brackets on the side like 2a's? thanks
