What are the odds?

    I replaced a worn positive battery cable yesterday and then did some mild wheelin'. Parked the Jeep overnight, went to start it this morning and clickclickclickclick...:rofl:

    Battery is fully charged with clean posts, good connection on pos and neg sides. Still clicking. Put new starter solenoid on...still clicking.

    It's rather ironic this happens after I changed a cable and everything was fine before.

    Could it be my starter? Do I need to triple check my connections and put the battery on charge for the heck of it...(it shows 12.6v on the meter).

    check connections. tighten everything.

    Yeah, check the bolts holding the starter on the fly wheel. I went to have the CJ emissions tested a few years back and when she got on the rollers, there was some clicking....then a BLLLANNK!!! The starter fell out of the jeep. :( I guess wheeling can do that once in a while.

    Update: Problem ended up being a bad battery. Even though it was showing 12v and showed no other symptoms. ( I did not check amps) I was surprised it failed so quickly.

    I was thrown when the problem originated after I changed the positive cable. A buddy said I probably loosened a bad post by wiggling the connectors to get them off and that was the end of the battery and I do remember smelling sulfur when the solenoid was clicking. A new battery did the trick and I'm back on the road.

    Don't you hate it when coincidences like that happen. Bet you're also hating the cost of a new battery. I know I was shocked when I bought my last battery.

    lol... yeah, it stinks especially when you're mechanically challenged like me!

    Someone did mention to check the amps, and if I had followed that advice, I would have known sooner. But still....I've never had a battery just flat-out fail like that.

    The good news? A friend had a new battery from a car he just sold...got it for free! :beer:

    12 volts is low anyhow. Fully charged battery should be at least 13.5
