T-150 transmission lubricating wick

    I was a HUGE believer in "Never Seize", still am, but not as much
    I'd mix some in grease and fill a small grease gun with it.
    When I rip my off road bikes apart, I use that on all the rear swing arm pivot bolts, the rear shock pivots, axles, etc.
    I use it on my son's Yami TTR 125.
    After a few weeks and a few muddy races, the rear suspension got really stiff.
    Come to find out the swing arm bolt was stuck???
    I had to use a "saws all" and cut at the motor and press out the bolt out of the motor case.
    The "never seize" had turned to a solid expoxy like sheet that froze things up.
    When I told the owner of the bike shop that was sponsored us, he told me that he had found the same thing and stopped using it.
    Since then, I just use a GOOD waterproof wheel bearing grease, and it seems to work.
    I've never had luck removing the bushing with the "grease and pilot tool method", but it is cool! I've banged away at it, (careful the grease will push the bolt or??? back), got bummed, took a dremel and reamed the bushing to just about nothing and "peeled" it out
    I ususaly pack the grease in a bit, insert the pilot tool to "smoosh it @" and put it all back together.
    I've taken them apart a few years later and the grease is still "greasey", but have never really taken any of my jeeps off road where the grime would get in there.
    An old time mechanic told me to "heat up some oil in a pan and drop the bushings in to let the oil be sucked inbto the bushing".
    He was always right before, (but always thought Jim Kelley and the Buffalo Bills were gonna win the Super Bowls they were in), so I've done that on electrical motors.

    joe28 I appreciate the advice, this is the first time I've ever pulled a transmission.

    I took the flywheel off today and then used a bearing puller I was loaned by a friend to pull the pilot bushing out. It worked like a charm and didn't even damage the bushing. It looks like there may have been a piece of felt or something on the other side of the bushing but it had long since turned to a pile of greasy dust. I gues I will try Tim's suggestion of making one out of a piece of felt.
