I'm working on a 74 CJ-5 .. Taking the the last few things off so I can get the cowl section off the frame,, I've cut the old rusted body off in pcs,, I want to save the brake cyl so I can compare it to the GM power unit Im installing back in,,,After the 59 CJ3b body is in place,,, Iv stretched it 4 ins to fit the wheel base & give my big self some room ,,, I cant figure how the cly rod gets un hooked from the foot pedal or at the top of it anyway,, A picture would be handy ,,, The one in my Haynes Manual shows it already out ,,,:?

Should be a cotter pin holding the pivot pin/brake light switch to the big eye of the M/C rod.
Yank the cotter pin and remove the M/C mounting nuts. This allows you to twist the master cylinder/rod enough to allow the big eye of the rod to clear off the drivers side of the pivot pin.

After looking closer at mine I figured out whats wrong ,,, The cotter key that I pulled out only had one leg on it ,, Picked a needle nose vise grip on the way home last evening and plan on getting the rest of the cotter key out first day light ,,, Thanks for the picture ,,,
