    I bought an aftermarket tailgate for a 66 CJ5. It seems lightweight and flimsey.I have found an original I think? Does anyone know how to tell? I can't see the gate other than pictures because of location. My aftermarket gate only weighs approx.10# his original? weighs 14.3#.Any ideas? Thanks for any help Dave

    my original had a solid bar in the top, I added one in the repop and welded it in........

    I bought an aftermarket tailgate for my 73 and I was very pleased with the quality of it. it highly exceded my expectations. i never weighed it but i think they were very close to the same.
