I've gone through the archives and found many references to this product and mostly positive. I'm looking to reduce pedal effort. Anyone have any experience with the adaptor and does it reduce pedal effort. '67 CJ5 with V6.

I installed an AA chain in the '71.
The '71 had the loooong cable from the factory... and the cable worked smoothly and with little effort. It just didn't last long enough, and always broke at an inconvenient time
The AA chain also works with little effort, but has some issues when the frame is twisted or when the clutch is wet.

My '71 ran a diaphram clutch, so it didn't take much effort regardless of the mechanism.
Are you running a 3-finger Borg & Beck? They tend to take a good deal more leg...
if so, the AA chain may help you gain some mechanical advantage, if you can live with the downside.

Jeep is new to me so I don't know what pressure plate is in there. Is there a significant difference in pedal effort between a three prong and diafram pressure plate?

Also, I was thinking 44 year old linkage might be binding, etc and AA kit would replace it.

I had the cable on my 71' and it was really hard to push in the clutch. I switched to the AA chian and it takes very little effort to operate. I have had my rig pretty twisted up and have not had the same issue as Lynn.
    Hope this helps.

had one on the cj6.....it helped a little on the "effort" part for daily driving......but on the trail when my frame got twisted it loosened up and the clutch was useless...........I switched to a hydraulic setup after that FWIW

I have one, it is very old +20years and it works flawlessly , even when very twisted . the holes in my floor boards are huge to allow pedal movment .

you most likley have the original design made by Harry Buschart (sp).
AA changed his design when they purchased the rights .

My '66' has the AA setup. I don't think I had very much reduction in pedal pressure, but it has been very reliable for the last 8 or 6 years.

I used to have to work on the old cable system far more than I wished. So far, no work on the AA system.

John, did you have a heavy or light clutch pedal before the switch?

My clutch has always been pretty stiff (and my wife will verify that!). I don't notice it much, but I'm smart enough to know I wouldn't want to drive my Jeep through downtown New York City.
