I've used something like the bottoms from Currie. I have them on my CJ5 now, but it's yet to roll out of the barn.

How does that defeat the purpose?

Mine look like the top pic (dont remember the mfgr) They did indeed cause the shocks to be at an angle-I solved this by using regular bolts instead of shock mounting studs

My Warrior Products skids came in on Friday. We'll see how they do when I get the rear end back under the frame. I'll have my opinion about them in my build thread.

I've had my Warrior skids several years, no problems. The shocks being at a slight angle won't bother a thing.

I ran JKS B2 skids on the front of the '71. They were designed for intermediates, shock mount behind the axle. I had a few discussions with the owner of JKS, who insisted they fit ECJ5s... he eventually realized the error of his ways and changed the ad to reflect the B2s fit only 72 - 75 vintage. I suggested that they drill both ends... he didn't want to hear it
I had a friend drill and tap the front end, to mount my shocks up front, and just filled the back hole with a bolt.
These are 1" thick solid steel...

Here's a view from behind the axle, (other side) and the plugged hole

IIRC I installed Warriors on the back of the '71. I never had a problem with either type of skid....as far as I know Don hasn'teither.
