Today I discovered that the bolts in my driver's side front hub had all snapped but one. The unbroken one was the only one that had the locking tab/washers properly bent up to prevent the bolt from losing. I use this 68 CJ with a V6 for plowing. Up here in the northeast this winter it has had quite a workout. I don't know anything about unlocking hubs or what problems are involved in disassembling them and extracting the broken bolt studs. Can someone give me some guidance.
    Thanks

Removing the locking hub is easy - assuming you have the 'standard' and not 'auto-locking' hubs.

Remove the 6 allen head screws from the 'dial' part of the hub. The end of the hub will pull off. Under this, there should be a snap ring on the end of the axle. The snap ring is often missing, and the locking hubs still work fine without it. Better to have it there though.

Once the snap ring is removed, and the 6 outer bolts are removed, the hub slides off.

Next assess how much of each of the bolts remains. Hopefully the bolts broke off near the heads and you can back them out.

double nut it if there's enough thread. You could weld a nut on if there's not or try an extractor.

Just don't forget to wake the bolts up before you try to extract them.

You may find it easier to replace the hub, if you can get the brake drum off, espically if the bolts broke off close to the hub. If that is the case, it would be easier to work on if you removed the hub from the axle anyway.

Let me know if you find a source for the bolt locks. I need a set for my jeep.

The out section of the Warn hub with only one bolt left unbroken disappeared some where in the snow when I plowed last time. I couldn't understand why there was no traction on the hills until i checked the hub. Since I never had to disassemble a front hub assemble before it was going to be an adventure.
I removed the snap ring that held the remaining part of the Warn hub and removed it. Then removed the nuts that held the stock hub and bearing assembles in place. Fortunately I had acquired the large socket needed to fit these nuts a long time ago. There is the first nut, then a washer with a locking tab, than another nut and washer.
At first I couldn't get the brake drum off because the brake shoes needed to be backed off. Referring to the shop manual I learned that this 68 has a self adjusting lever that has to be lifted off the star wheel before you can move it. I had no luck seeing the lever or moving the the star wheel. Finally I was able to pry the drum and hub with two tapped pry bars.
All the broken bolt ends where below the edge of the hub surface and it appeared that I would have to drill them all out. Before I went to that trouble I tried two ice picks to see if i could back them out. They worked great. With the bolts out I PB blasted the star nut threads, lifted the self adjuster up and with a set of channel locks on the star wheel got the shoes backed off. Put the drum back on and reassembled with the nuts and washers. Nuts where damaged from attempts to remove them with a screw driver so i files them smooth.
I salvaged an original equipment axle flange hub from a parts jeep and installed on the axle with its snap ring, bolted it down and i was back in business again.
Hope this maybe helpful to someone in the future.
    Thanks for everyone suggestions.
