Are they really worth the money, and do I need to use the wood inserts like my original 55 had?

My original thoughts were to use an old hood ( a 79 and 95 ford, and 87 dodge to be exact) for sheet metal, as I've done before, and to use the actual hood bracing for floor supports....they're slotted and a little bit wider, but I don't see why they wouldn't work.

I'll take a pic in a bit to show exactly what I mean, and for my own future reference :D

Past experiences with ordering body panels and braces have taught me no matter how expensive they are, they always need tweaking/cutting/grinding to fit anyway, so these would save some coin.

Anyway, any other ideas on how to make some? No way can I bend straight metal into channels with just a vice, pliers, and a hammer :D

    Thanks!!

I don't see why it wouldn't work if you're not concerned about restoration, just functionality. And the wood inserts are to prevent the bolts from crushing the channel. I plan to replace mine when I get a round tuit.

I made my own out of 1x2x1/8 wall tubing. Worked out great.

I used Classic Enterprises Floor Supports. As for the wood supports. I used tubing at the bolt hole location so the channel wouldn't collapse.

I plan to use thicker sheet steel in the floor similar to the story by Bill Maudlin "The Affair of the Wayword JEEP", and 3/4"x1-1/2" steel tubing for reinforcement.
