Rosboss, Looks great. I have a 67 and am thinking of adding stripes as a tribute to the Renegade package. Did the Rendgade 1's come with the center stripe and the mag wheels? I thought they were for the Renegade II's.

Adam, That is where I got my information on the Renegades 1 and 2. Did I miss something? From that the center stripe and mags were from the Renegade II package. Steel wheels and no stripe on the RI's as best I can tell. Maybe I missed something. I think these early Renegades are the coolest of all cj5's. I wish I had one. I am thinking of adding the hood stripe to mine.

    Thnak you,
    Peter

Good eye, actually my Renegade 1 has a 71 title because it was built in September. The later built Renegade 1's did come with the center hood blackout like the Renegade 2's, I've seen a few of them. As far as the wheels go your right I still have the 15x8 KH wheels that came with it but I didn't care them. I felt they were a little too wide and too plain looking. When I got the opportunity to buy a set of Renegade 2 wheels for $150 I jumped all over it.

I'll have to update the information on the page about the center stripe.

Awesome! It's great to see a Jeep actually restored, not just "redone" with a lot of aftermarket stuff added on. Dittos!

Awesome job! Where are you located? I am in Kent and my Renegade I is in Puyallup. I am always looking for details and more resources for my RI.

Great job! Looks awesome! Any idea if it's originally from the Seattle area? Mine was bought through Kolars JEEP in Seattle; actually been looking for memorabilia from the dealership. Recently posted a WTB on the Craigslist there. Again, GREAT job!

    This is amazing.

Where did you find that dashpad and those dash knobs?

I actually bought the jeep in Oregon and towed it home. All the knobs are original to the jeep and the dash pads are fairly easy to find. I know of a Renegade in a wrecking yard right now that had a very nice dash pad on it, if it's still there.

Did you purchase your decals from Golden Eagle Decals? The picture on their website appears to not quite have the correct curve to the decals and your's look similar. Great looking rig!

Yes, I did get the decals from golden eagle. The problem with the decals is that they are cut straight and the hood is curved. So to keep the wrinkles out they have to go on with a slight arc. The stock decals might have had a slight arc designed into them.

From the way they lay I kind of thought they may have made them straight, thanks for confirming it. OEM ones did have a slight curve to them.

Yes the OEM one's did have a curve to them. In matter of fact they also seem to have a slight carve in the Z axis besides the X and Y also. Hard to explain, but they will not lie perfectly flat on a flat service if that makes sense.
If you want a better set I suggest that you try and get ahold of Frank Seanborn (I think that is how you spell his name) up in Mich.
Back when I bought my RII in 1971 I had a good friend that was a paint and body guy. He suggested that I order a spare set of the decals just in case. I did it and saved the decals for all these years. I was talking to Frank a couple of years ago and I guess he makes these type of decals. When he found out I had a original set, he wanted to make some. I loaned my original set to him and he got a pattern off them. So his should be a very good reproduction.

Here is a picture of the originals I have:

    Awsome JEEP.
I have a question about the speedometer amp and oil lights. Do they also work along with the in dash gauges on the Ren I ? When I purchased my Ren I some 15 years ago. The fuel gauge and Temp gauge didnt work (It ended up being the sending unit in the tank). As I was doing all this I changed the oil gauge to an oil pressure gauge, in the prosses of taking the speedometer out of the dash and making sure the gauges were ok. I can't remember if there were wires to the amp and oil lights. I have been thinking of re installing the original oil pressure gauge, but cant find the original sending unit (can i still get one?) (do two wires go to it?). Just wondering.
P.S. I'm geting to old to contort my body and look under the dash. haha

Wyomike, do you know how to get in touch with Frank Seanborn? Or, is he a member here? I would much rather get a set of decals following the original pattern than a set of straight cut stripes. My other thought was to take my hood to a local vinyl graphics shop and see if they can duplicate from it and use the Golden Eagle cowl pieces.

Frank is on IFSJA also, he's got a real nice red Gladiator with a white safari top. Good guy, I got some stuff from him.
