need help with lights wire colors

    does anyone knw what color is the high beam wire. i have two wires black and red. i have no wire harnes so im doin it all myself, seems how i will be puting on a different tub next year. i didnt want to buy one install it and have to take it out and reinstall it again.

    It depends on what side you are talking about. Off the top of my head, there are 2 black wires on the passenger side. One is the high beam and one is the blinker. Use a test light to figure which one

    these are the wires that come directly off the headlights. one it black and one is red. my blinkers are separate from the headlights, and i have no wire harness so the harness colors may be different. i have to wire everything by itself

    According to the diagram I linked for you above, high beam is black.

    patrick my computer cant read pdf files. i have had this problem for a while tried to fix it and couldnt. ( my computer is stupid chainsawguy). i do have my trusty manual, but the schematic dosesnt show color for the 66. if some one had one in the same range as mine and they could check that would be great. thank you tho for the link

    put 12v to one wire and then the other. you will find out which is high and low faster than we can type;)

    Factory manual doesn't show colors. I think high beam is indeed black. I think. I can check one or both of my Jeeps tomorrow if you want.

    ya my batt was dead when all this was going on. but i fixed my batt charger and its charging as we speak. i figured it was the black wire that was hi beam but i wanted to make shure. i did put a charge to it with the light on but like i said the batt was nearly dead. thank you all for your info i dont know what i would do with out this site ....oh wait i knw what id do :smash: chainsawguy haha

    haha this year i have handled over half a million pounds of lobster. and cook it and eat it on the barge so by the time the year is over all i want is a big steak. lol .id offer to mail some but you wouldnt want to see the shipping charges on that stuff it is riduculous.

    you just aint using the right shipper, i used to run up to newfields NH all the time with a reefer trailer:rofl: eh, enough BS in the tech section:beer:

    Maybe you solved this problem already.......but an easy place to access the wires you need is at the dimmer switch and use a test light to determine which one is your high beam wire.
