How wide is the steel used on your aftermarket shackles? Say Confer, or warrier or whichever aftermarket one you have. I am making my own and i am trying to see what i have for steel to make some.

    Thanks

Man this should be another thing on my list to make and sell, these things are dead simple to make and I could make them in mass for cheap!

I have a perfect type - three bolts with a square center piece 1/8" mill on the face of the Shackles for the center to sit into - great shackles, real strong, and the guy stopped making them...

I have a set in a box still I believe - for a 'model' if you will :D

Dan, I'm pretty sure mine are 3/8" thick, 2" wide, tied together in the middle, Confer. Don't think I'll go out and look as it's a bit cool out right now (37 below zero).

Factory ones are 1 1/8" so I would use 1 1/2" wide material, 2" would be to wide in my opinion.

Wholly crap that would make a set of shackles way around 3 1/2lbs with bolts.

    So to answer the questions:
    Sides are 5 1/4 tip to tip - 3/8 thick - 1 1/2 wide
Mount holes are 3 3/4 CL
Square is just over 1 7/8 long 1X1 1/8 wall
    Bevel is just under 1/16

This set looks to be a bit 'shorter' than the ones I am running (in that the center square may need to be a touch longer). I reall like the fact that I can crank the center bolt tight, caught in the shoulders and the springs still can swing like they should.

    and PICS :D

Yes Mike - will include a set with the rocker arms. Should be a week or so comming as I have to unload the Waggy before I disable the Willys and send them. Let me know if a time works better and I will make it happen.

Yep dirt simple to make. Wonder if i can get strips of 1.5" wide 1/4 bar stock from the local steel store....

Grease-able bolts for poly urethane spring bushings would be a nice touch too, but not for rubber.
