Spent an hour or so on the dash today. Got the speedo installed and a few other things. Enough to get it installed tomorrow. Then all I have to do is sort through the "spaghetti bowl" of wires and start hooking stuff up. I'll be able to re-use 90% of my old wiring so that's a plus. I'll post up some pics Fri after I get it installed.
Here's what I get to deal with.

That looks like it will be tons of fun! Good luck.
Still need pics of the winch mount or did you get it figured out?

Im wondering after you (that makes two on the forum that used the powerjection), if you will think it was worth it. I ended up having to sell one of my two jeeps, and couldnt recoup the massive amount of money I put into it in the last 7 months, so I took the axles/rims/tires/tcase out of it (majoity of money spent on parts these last 7 months centered here), and plan on installing them in my CJ6. Anyways.......part of what I really like about the six is the buick engine configuration, to the end that I hope someday to install a supercharged 3.8 version (like Parts Mike did in his, and several comp buggy guys have done) in its place, without intense fabrication, as it should bolt in place. But, Id lose that loveable engine sound of this odd fire motor, and its nostalgic bent. Mine is already modded with an intake, DUI dizzy, and 390 Holley 4bl (no idea how that is going to do offroad....), how much more do you think the powerjection will add, if any?

I'm probably a few weeks from working on the winch mount Jeff. But if you get a chance to post a pic or two of your setup, I'd appreciate it.

jslamerman: I'm not looking for more power from the Powerjection, just the ability to keep the thing running on the steep stuff. I was using a 2bbl Holley with all the offroad mods ie: pressure regulator, different power valves, lower the float, extend the breather and a whistle and I was never happy with the performance. It always wanted to stumble and puke on the extreme uphill stuff. Power was never an issue with me as I'm in the 90+ : 1 crawl ratio area. I'll definitely post up my experience with the Powerjection unit after I've had a chance to drive it. I won't be getting on any difficult trails until Spring/Summer now. Expect to spend between $2k and $2,500 by the time you are done with the Powerjection though.

Ewwww.......good luck on that one. Looks like it is labled though so it shouldn't (knock on some cedar) give you too much trouble...hopfully.

    how many gallons??

Ya, Jeff, that's what I was thinking too. Ha Ha

Jim: I calculate it right at 14 gallons. It's as big as I can fit in the spot I have for it. It ends up mounting under the tub right behind the seats, just behind the riser. I moved one of the cross-members back there to make room for it. I'm keeping my underseat tank too.

Poking along. Looks like I have more wires than time!

I guess it looks like more progress if you compare it to this pic from a month ago or so.

Oh man that rig is looking sweet! Maybe my next one will come together that well instead of every part being in different stages like it is now. Nice work!

Coming along nicely John! Keep after it. Hope to see you on the con in June for the FOTR workday!

Thanks guys. I figured this was my one chance to get everything the way I want it. It's actually my third build on this Jeep. If the suspension works the way I want it to, I'll be a happy camper. That's the only thing I'm not certain about. I'm going to mount the new fuel tank, fuel pump and solenoids for the two tanks this week, then I can button up the wiring. I really really really want to mount the fenders, but I want to be mostly done with the engine bay before I do.

Yeah, I did that; mounted the fenders, now they are in the way.......

The sretched wheelbase will be huge difference, at least that's how it felt on my YJ7. Stretched it to 103", rode much better on pavement, less bumpy, plus it climbed obstacles better.

Did ya get that PJIII all hooked up? What's your design for the dual tanks with it?

I'm going to start working on making my old skid plate fit the new tank tomorrow. Once I have it in I'll be able to start looking for a good location for the solenoids and the pump. I'm using a pair of solenoid switches from James Duff for switching between tanks. The second solenoid will switch the return lines between the two tanks so whichever tank I'm using will also be receiving the return fuel. Not sure where I'm going to run the vent hoses to yet. I'm using rollover vents in both tanks. I'm hoping to be ready to fire the engine by the end of Feb.
