Where do the wires on the oil pressure light socket and amp light socket connect? There are 2 wires going to each, but they share connection going to both which I am guessing is a ground? Where do those 2 wires connect on the speedometer? I am actually missing one of the 2 wire sockets.... anybody have one to purchase? Thanks

I have posted a schematic of the lamps your are talking about. The wires you are talking about are marked A-11-A. This is the hot side of the lamp socket. The other wires from the sockets connect to ground. The two hot wires connect to a common plug on the wiring harness.

Let me also mention that the lamp socket wires should be red with a white trace. That photo is from the 74 Factory Service Manual CJ Wiring Diagram. If you need any more let me know.

Thanks for the diagram but I already have those lights hooked up correctly. The ones I am working on go into the speedometer and light up the oil pressure light and amp lights inside the speedometer. Are the bulb holders supposed to have a ground wire and a power lead? The oil pressure socket is missing but the amp one I have has 2 wires on it.. guessing one is the ground and one is a power lead. Does it have the wrong socket? There power lead to it is grey. Thanks

I have converted mine to a delco alt.
Gray wire is power to the light. White wire goes to alternator "field'.(same as for the motorola alt)
In this setup, the lamp acts to keep voltage from backfeeding to the ignition.
The lamps ground to the housing through those springy teeth, which can be problematic. Clean them well.
    Ground the housing well

My Jeep wont charge when the wire coming from the amp light is connected to the ignition side of the fuel gauge. When it is disconnnected it charges. Any ideas?/

You're going to need to trace out where all your alternator wires go first. That way we may be able to tell what is hooked up wrong.

Most older vehicles have had a previous owner that did some crackpot botch job in the past that will make your system unique so you have to be able to describe what you have to work with.
