According to all the English classes they forced on me back in high school the term JET is a noun when it represents an object.
Here is the definition taken from Websters online that I intended:
a (1) : a usually forceful stream of fluid (as water or gas) discharged from a narrow opening or a nozzle.

The terms main and metering are both adjectives and are used to describe the noun.

I am in no way offended by your inquisition. It only proves that you have a sincere interst concerning the topic.
I agree with you that correct terms are vital when communicating detail via audio and text.

I consider Willys Overland, Willys Motors Inc., Kaiser Jeep Corporation and Americam Motors Jeep Corporation
as the final authorities concerning correct "JEEP" terms.

They called it the MAIN METERING JET

The # 7041185 does not have a roll stamp upon the fuel well body.

Can someone please tell the OP how to adjust his idle? I've seen it published that the idle needles control mixture as far as fuel to air mixture. The FSM states that turning these out richens the mixture. Is the maximum range of these needles supposed to fall within 1/2 to 1-1/2 turns? I've also seen it written about adjusting the idle to maximum vacuum. The FSM says to adjust the low speed needles until a smooth idle results at 600rpm.

Yankeefist. if you what my help, contact me. I worked for Rochester Products for 19 yrs. then 22 for the company that bought all their tooling, gasket prints and machine tools. sorry for any nouns or pronouns not correctly used. Yankeefist, in your first post of carb. problems, you mentioned you might have a vacum leak-- this is impossible because there is no vacum.

When the engine is running, it pulls air thru the carb, creating vacuum.

And, without a pressure differential, there would be no vacuum.
    But, there is.
