Alright guys...This is a little different than all that I have read. We are moving which mean I need to move the jeep that currently has the steering column out. I just have the column and shaft out, but the the saginaw box is still in an hooked up. Question is... Can I still flat tow it without the column in even though the steering box is till in? Im thinking it should be okay, but want to check with pros. Thanks

I'm with you I don't see why not, does it have a steering dampener ? check the toe, set it in about 1/8" and don't forget to pull the rear driveshaft .

No steering dampner. Also, only towing it aboot 4 miles through the neighborhood.

As long as your steering assembly you have in place is hooked up good (like you could drive it) you shouldn't have any issues without the column.

I have had the wheels to go all the way to lock and not striaghten up, this has not happened to me with the cj5 but with a 1947 willys pickup. the only way you could tow it was to tie the steering wheel off, so to me you have a 50/50 chance

I used to flat tow my cj5 everywhere she went. The front wheels follow wherever the back of the truck goes so no, I dont see why you would need your steering hooked up to flat tow it. Just make sure your tires have the SAME psi and dont back up ha. And on a side note, if a front tire on the jeep blows out your in for a bit of a ride.

For 4 miles I wouldn't even pull the rear driveshaft. Put the tcase in neutral and tow away.

    IMHO longer towbars track better.
