Is it possilble that a 1965 Tuxedo Park MkIV has a Dauntless with the V6 emblem on the side panels, I have never seen these two on the same jeep together that early
( the TP edition and the V6w/emblem)

V6 appeared for the 1966 model year, Tux or not.

Everything shows 66 as first year for the V6 in any model JEEP. But, somewhere I do recall someone mentioning having 65 with a factory V6 in it. Could be false and I have no proof of it. I would lean toward believing the factory production info as being truth rather than someone saying they have this or that.

I had a 65 tux with the badging for a v6, I bought it with no motor and the engine mounts were cut out as the PO had new mounts for a ford 4 banger.
I would have put a Dauntless in but found a factory stock f head and used that. I had to buy an adapter ring for the case to adapt to a t 90 as it was a large hole D18 which the owner claimed was stock.
Now knowing jeep, and the fact they so little of the production figures survive, it would not seem strange to me that they used V6s in 65, many of the ways they registered jeeps were funny as you find options dropped in this year registered in that.

...I'm a newbie Jeep guy, but my '65 CJ5 has a V6 with the stamp on the side - sure looks stock to me. I was told that they started production of the V6s in late '65.

Late 65's were registered as 66's.

...ok - well, I guess mine isn't stock??? Weird... titled as 65 and it's stamped V6 on the side. Is there a way to check engine number to determine when it was built??

yep, if it hasnt been machined off. front passanger side deck (right in front of the head) AFAIK you will have to go thru a GM site to decipher the code. also IIRC there is a number cast into the left rear of the block in front of the bellhousing that gives info as well. the one on the deck will tell you what that engine came in etc HP rating as well.

Stamped V6? You mean it has the emblems? I've seen more than one conversion that had the emblems added..
