Any idea's where I could find a pitman arm for a 71 with a V6. Removed the steering from my jeep and my pitman arm is worn, and I can not seem to find one, lots for the 4 cyclinder but so far none for a V6.

Welcome to the 'Can't find V6 parts Club'.
I ran into the same thing with a variety of little things that are different with the V6 vintage Jeeps. Everything from the Ross steering box that is unique to V6, the brake pedal arm that is unique to V6, the exhaust system that is unique to V6, the accelerator pedal linkage that is unique to V6....
The list probably goes on to more thing that I haven't found yet.
Still the best version of early CJ5 that was ever built in my opinion!

You need to be more clear, the earlycj5 never actually had a pitman arm. Are you talking about the drag link, bellcrank or the arm on the side of the ross box.

The 71 has a saginaw box, right? Then the Jeepster stuff should work also.

The 71 still has Ross. 72 was the 1st year for saginaw in a cj.

I am referring to the arm that attaches to the lever shaft (the J looking arm with a ball on the end), Moses Ludel referred to this as the pit man arm as well. Mine has almost a 1/16" deep groove near the base and I was thinking I should replace if possible.

As for the hard to find parts for the V6, add the year 1971 to the mix.

It is called a pitman arm. Try calling some vendors and asking about V6 specific parts. I found almost everything I needed so far by looking at catalogs and making phone calls. Good place to start:http://www.surplusjeep.com/ most of these sites have phone numbers.

As my search continues I have an additional question. Back in the early to mid 60's they changed out the 4 cyc for the V6 Buick. Did they change the pitman arm as well? What is the difference between the 4 cyc pitman arm and a V6 pitman arm? The search continues, which I think I found one...
