That was a good deal on those discs.

 

Yeah I thought so, there were some on rockauto.com that were less expensive for "stock" replacement but they didnt list the width in the info, instead they just listed the diameter of the disc so I was afraid to order them.

That is kind of whats up with the calipers as well. I see ranges from $21 to $99 and they have different features like "Loaded" or "Semi-Loaded" and I dont even know what that means :?

So I am going to keep poking around to try and make sure I get the right stuff...

Loaded means the pads are included, as well as any springs, anti rattle clips etc.

Try NAPA auto parts for the calipers.

Holy cow! Napa has the calipers for $19 with everything but the pads. Pads are $13... but the freaking core charge if I dont have old ones to trade in is $24 a piece!

HA! Now to find some old calipers somewhere!!

 

If you aren't using power assist on the MC, use the organic pads. Metallic pads are designed for power assist units and the organics will stop you a lot better if you are manual. A little tip I got from Nickmil.

Picked up the calipers and the organic pads as suggested by Posimoto via Nickmil.

Had to order new Hubs as the quote to have mine milled on the back side was $240 EACH
Hopefully the ones from morris 4x4 will be right, we shall see.

Started a sale thread for the stuff I dont need, link is in the sig.
Still looking for a 76+ style windshield for this thing...

OH! Almost forgot, I snagged some seats out of a Porsche 911 SC
for $100! SWEET!

Man im jealous, Im still trying to get brake lines on mine

 

Don't feel bad, I dont have any brake lines!
My thought is to get the disc brakes on, mount the MC and the portioning valve and then take it somewhere to have the lines put in for cheap...

 

Thinking about the roll cage Fab that will be in the future. Has anyone use front stanchions on a full cage in a cj5? it seems like a no brain'er because after mocking up my seats I'm pretty much dry humping the steering column and can already see the trouble getting in and out...

While I am sure building the lower end of the front hoop like that will give you a little more leg room and help with getting in and out, what you really need to do to get some leg room is notch the rear wheel well to allow the seat to come back a bit. Putting modern seats in these old Jeeps really cuts into legroom. The factory tube seats with cushions are way more compact than modern bucket seats. Do yourself a favor and notch the wheel wells so you are not "dry humping your steering column".

I know I know, the wheel house notch is something I have been rolling around. I just hate to cut into the beautiful liner I just put under and inside the tub. Eventually I will have to do it I am sure... I just wish I would have had these seats to mock em up when I still had the bare tub. Oh well I guess that's why this is a rookie build.

 

Have not seen stanchions like that before, and have to say "Wow, don't like that knife edge pointed at my left knee". Why don't you just bend the front down tubes to go forward thru the top corners of the dash and just trim the dash around them?
The weight holes on the stanchions remind me of old speaker grille covers.

 

Those are speaker covers, They are made for a YJ application, so I think that is where the speaker would be. I see your point about the knife edge! In the YJs it looks like it is covered by the padded dash edge:


but in my heep it might be just in the wrong spot, Good eye!
